XE5-8 Access Point
The XE5-8 is a five-radio Wi-Fi 6/6E 8×8/4×4 access point (AP) designed to deliver high-density, future-proof performance for building next generation wireless networks. With five user servicing radios, the XE5-8 delivers the highest density Wi-Fi 6 solution in the industry. Wi-Fi 6E support extends the capacity of Wi-Fi into the 6 GHz band, more than tripling the wireless spectrum available.
Cambium announced the release of their Wi-Fi 6E access point, the XE5-8. After Cambium purchased Xirrus from Riverbed back in 2019, we’ve been seeing more enterprise Wi-Fi solutions.
It’s an 802.11ax 6 GHz tri-band 8×8 or 4×4 access point. There are five radios supporting each Wi-Fi band and can be configured for your transition to 6 GHz.
There are two 4×4 5 and 6 GHz software-defined radios. Two 4×4 5 GHz radios and one 4×4 2.4 GHz radio.
Cambium’s XE5-8 can be managed through the Cambium Networks XMS or cnMaestro network manager.
The access point does have two Ethernet ports capable of up to 5 Gbps and it has one USB 3.0 port. Because of the number of radios and the dual 5 Gbps Ethernet ports, the access point will use a maximum of 59W, requiring 802.3bt.
We are looking forward to seeing more 6 GHz access points enter the market and are even more excited about testing 6 GHz performance.
Wi-Fi Built for the Future
With five high-speed software-defined radios, the XE5-8 Wi-Fi 6E access point enables seamless transition to Wi-Fi 6E with the ability to easily change from dual-band to tri-band (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz) support when sufficient 6 GHz clients are available. The XE5-8 is fully backward compatible with existing Wi-Fi technology, enabling simultaneous support of new high-speed clients, legacy clients, low-bitrate IoT devices, and more in a single wireless infrastructure.
Limited Lifetime Warranty
The XE5-8 comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty providing return and repair service on the access point from date of purchase until end of life of the product.
